PV Powered Announces Web-based Performance Monitoring for Solar Power Systems
The PVM1010 helps installers and owners identify problems that can decrease energy harvest over time

Bend, ORE - June 4, 2007

PV Powered, a leader in solar power generation technology, today announced the availability of a new tool to help owners monitor and evaluate the performance of their photovoltaic (PV) power systems. The PVM1010 data monitoring system provides owners with current and historical data, allowing them to easily see how their PV system is performing and helping them ensure that they are achieving the maximum energy harvest for their PV investment.

Continuous performance monitoring tracks the PV system throughout the day and can indicate the existence of conditions that decrease power output such as dirt accumulation on the solar panels and objects that may be blocking light from reaching their panels. Regularly analyzing system trends can help owners and installers develop maintenance and servicing schedules and quickly spot any performance issues.

The PVM1010 is the only data monitoring device on the market today that is designed to be installed directly inside a solar inverter. Installation of the UL Listed data interface module inside the enclosure of the inverter provides a direct connection to the unit as well as protection from the elements and can be easily performed by any PV Poweredauthorized installer. The module then plugs into the owner’s existing Internet connection via a standard CAT5 network cable and transmits system data to a secure server where it is logged analyzed and displayed in a simple to understand format.

PV Powered provides a flexible interface with several ways to access information from the data module. First, the owner can view status and performance data about their PV system from any web-connected computer through a secure login to mypvpower.com. The data is also accessible to owner-designated performance monitoring and reporting services that generate the certified performance reports required by some solar incentive programs. An open protocol communications interface to extract information directly from the data module is available as well.

Easy-to-read reports, diagnostic performance charts and a comprehensive list of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) on mypvpower.com help owners understand and manage their PV system. Mypvpower.com provides a wealth of information to help owners ensure their system is operating at optimum performance by identifying possible problems and suggesting when owners or their system installers should take action to address them. An online connection to PV Powered’s expert help desk provides a quick response for more complex issues or can dispatch a local service technician.
