PV Powered Partners with Bay Area Habitat for Humanity
San Francisco, California - April 21, 2005

PV Powered of Bend, Oregon has partnered with the San Francisco Chapter of Habitat for Humanity and with San Francisco-based Grid Alternatives to provide solar systems on two San Francisco residences for families in need. Using a combination of hard work, donated products, and volunteered time; the lucky families not only have a roof over their heads, but also have the added cost benefit of generating their electricity through the power of the sun.

The first home, located in Visitacion Valley in San Francisco, is proudly owned by a family of 4 (soon to be 5!) who joined in with the Habitat for Humanity San Francisco staff of volunteers to build the home and install a 1.3 kW solar system. The system is made up of a donated PV Powered StarInverter PVP1800 and 10 BP Solar SX150 panels, will save the family approximately $250 a year in electricity costs, making the expense of home ownership much more manageable.

The second solar system was placed on an eight-unit condo built by Habitat for Humanity volunteers and homeowner "sweat equity". The 1.5 kW solar system consists of one PV Powered StarInverter PVP1800 and 12 BP Solar SX150 kW panels. All eight families will share the benefits of this system through one common meter, and each should see a significant reduction in their electricity bill each month as a result.

PV Powered will continue to work with Grid Alternatives and Habitat for Humanity to help reduce the cost of home ownership by harnessing the power of the sun to generate clean, green electricity for those in need.
